I pretty much try for a specimen show or two from each tour. Nor do I understand the various CD media. I do have cash. Of the four shows I've seen so far, Greensboro was best (others, Cleveland, Detroit, and Atlanta). In fact it was perfect. I'd love to obtain a good copy. Thanks for considering helping a tramp like me. ******** Buyers market: Since I always fail with ticketmaster, I have been obtaining tickets through luckytown-ads, with great success. I paid $200 - to cover everything - for two Atlanta GAs. Circumstances didn't allow me to arrive until about 7:45, so the most of value of GA was lost. I don't mind standing, but not at the back. I'd rather have the creature comforts such as the possibility of occasionally sitting, if I'm going to be a couple hundred of feet or more away anyway. Thus I looked for a pair of decent lower levels outside Phillips arena in Atlanta. There were hundreds of tickets for sale, including counterfeits, so care needs to be taken. There seemed to be tickets for sale everywhere, and no one was asking or receiving anything close to face value (I suppose if someone had great chair seats up near the stage down low, those would have demanded more). I ended up with a pair for $60 ($30 each) across the arena, but in the lower level. GAs were even cheaper and I ended up giving mine to some guy who was pan handling, thinking he could perhaps use the $30 or so the pair were worth more than me. Since the show was supposedly sold-out, I'm sure lots of people who could have gone stayed home. Of course had they all showed up, the ticket value would have gone up (Years ago I took Economics 101 in college and apparently have some surviving brain cells from that era, through no fault of my own.) Two nights ago, I'm sure tickets were selling for $5 by the time the show started at about 8:20 and I'm also sure I wasn't the only one who gave tickets away. I think it would be nice to have a "On Site Pre-Show Ticket Availability" report for every show. You can get a very rough sense of this by looking at e-Bay. I'm driving to Charlotte and Columbia without tickets based on my Atlanta experience. Both cities have less than a million people, compared to Atlanta's three. And, even in Greensboro, people were selling GA ticket at face value when I arrived at 5:30. I know its scary to drive a long way or fly without tickets, but I've done it many times, not to try for a bargain ticket, but because I could not obtain tickets ahead of time and the alternative was not to go al all, and never failed to get in. This includes three shows in the middle of the Meadowlands stand in 99 and Winterland on December 15, 1978 - which was GA, and we needed four (there we had to hussle around a bit and did pay a little more than face, as I recall - I also recall leaving thinking that I had seen the return of Jesus Christ disguised as a skinny guy with a guitar). Not very useful for trading, but designed for downloading. Once you uncompress a .SHN you have the original .WAV file. This then gets burned to CD. IMO (and that of others) it beats MP3s by a long shot. If you want to get rid of your .SHN files I'll be glad to take them off your hands. What do you have? I recorded Tampa last night with an ALD board-feed (all 170 glorious minutes!) The recording has the occasional static that affects many ALD recordings, but is excellent otherwise. The show goes across 3 discs. Also up for trade is Orlando 11/21, which is a very good audience recording (source: Sony ECM-717>Sony TCD-D8. Section 120). This one goes across 2 discs. I'd prefer to swop both shows as a 5-disc set, but will split them up if need be. Especially looking to swop for other high-quality shows from this tour (CD or video), but will trade for older Bruce shows and shows by other artists as well. Drop trade lists at smurdock@tampabay.rr.com and we'll swop some shows.
