If it weren't for Luckytown, I wouldn't have a Bruce CD-R collection, would never have attended all the shows on the past two tours, or been able to enjoy the daily banter of the Bruce fan community. All the best in your future endeavors. I started this crazy list back in 1988 (when we called it Backstreets). Anyway, I created a group on Yahoo Groups called TenthAvenueandEStreet. I figure we could keep the thread going there. I hate to see the list I started just dry up. If you are interested, then just simply go to http://groups.yahoo.com. The nice thing about Yahoo is that they will maintain the list. I have no ego here. If there is a better group out there that someone else have, please let me know. Again, I want to thank Kevin. About 12 years ago, I passed the baton to him when it became too much for me back then (I actually begged him). So, I would be happy to do it again, if you like. Take care, and God Bless. I started following the digest in '96 right after the "Joad" album came out and the digest reports, comments, stories and debates were such a tremendous resource. One of my favorite arguments that stands out was the debate of the "kiss" with Frank on "This Hard Land".... Geez, I think that one ran for three weeks! Anyway, thanks for the endless work and effort Kevin - you are appreciated and will be missed. Out of fear that I'll never be able to track this down and because I know I can trust the people from the digest, I am in desperate need of a copy of the Dec 16th 2002 Columbus show. I can trade blanks because I do not have cd burning capabilities. Please email me privately if you can lend a hand. Sincerely, Mike Brewer - -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web - Check your email from the web at http://mail2web.com/ . ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 19:57:45 -0500 From: Andrei Joseph Subject: Kevin, Bruce and a Sense of Community As others have already done, I would like to publicly appreciate Kevin for his work all these years. Bruce's songs obviously carry different meanings for each of us but one value we do seem to share is a sense of community, a sense that we are better off when we work together with compassion and trust. Kevin's work has embodied these ideals and his selflessness should be a model as we move forward to celebrate Bruce, to rebuild Luckytown, and to stop the war. I know I express the feelings of many as I say, "Job well done, thanks for all you have been able to provide us!" You've been great and I know I will miss the daily musings, introspection, retrospection, conversations, dreams, requests, pleas and most of all the people reaching out to each other. I can fully understand your wanting to move on and to free up your time for more activities that are more fulfilling professionally and personally. You know, I'd be willing to pay you a yearly fee to keep those digests running! Hey, maybe there is a way for it to continue!! We could pay you for your efforts and time! I'm there!!! Well, I can't even express how disappointed I was to get your farewell email. I finally find the medium to connect with people where Bruce Springsteen's music is concerned and it is to end. It puts me in mind of GEORGE magazine. I've not been extremely active in Digest but when I did participate it always brought me closer to some other Bruce fan out there. I've "met" an Italian, a New Zealander and a dozen Americans. I hope to actually meet these people in the future and I hope to keep some kind of Springsteen network with these people. Thank you Kevin Kinder for bringing stimulating conversation, interesting people and Bruce Springsteen more frequently into my world. I've been a fan of Springsteen's since the late '70s and it's been quite enjoyable being given the opportunity to connect with others who are just as passionate about Bruce Springsteen's lyrical voice, everything he stands for and his humanness. Take care all of you out there and best of luck to you Kevin in your new endeavor. Keep in touch everyone and see you on down the road!!
