The itinerary has the band playing 39 North American shows through a Dec. 13 finale in Albany, N.Y., with a break for much of September and an Oct. 14-27 European tour splitting up the run. At deadline there was no information available regarding when tickets for any of the shows will go on sale. As Springsteen has been known to play multiple nights in many cities, such as a 2000 10-night stand at New York's Madison Square Garden, it is possible that shows may be added once tickets for initial dates go on sale. That extended MSG visit produced the HBO special "Live in New York City," and a DVD and CD release of the same name, the latter of which debuted last April at No. 5 on The Billboard 200. The tour is expected to pick up again in 2003, with plans to visit Australia, as well as second swings through Europe and North America when "[Springsteen] and the band will do multiple shows in major cities throughout the summer of 2003," according to a statement. As previously reported, "The Rising" is due July 30, and is led by the title track, which will be commercially released Tuesday (July 16) backed with a live version of "Land of Hope and Dreams," recorded during the MSG run. The album's release will be heralded by a rare television performance/interview on NBC's "Today" show. Hosts Katie Couric and Matt Lauer will anchor their entire broadcast that morning from the boardwalk in Asbury Park, N.J., where Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform live in the city's Convention Hall. As it said on Backstreets website, tickets go on sale on July 20th, the time is 10:00am PST, and the Price, as I expected is $75. A true bargain, at least by Vegas standards. I suspect this will be the price everywhere. If you are planning to come to Vegas and are going to order tickets online, go to thw website ahead of time and register, it is free, and your order will go faster on the morning of the 20th. Anyone else living in Vegas who wants to get in touch with me about a pre show get together send me an e-mail. I am figuring on some close by UNLV bar it should not be too crowded, being a Sunday, and late summer, I will have to check, but there is a good chance school won't even be in session.
