Backstreets (www.backstreets.com ) is reporting that Indianapolis has also been postponed to December 17th, and they're probably right, but I don't have confirmation on Indianapolis yet. - ----- Kevin Kinder kinder@luckytown.org [text/html attachment deleted] ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Nov 2002 18:03:43 -0600 From: "bryan gray" Subject: Dallas Show Just a few random thoughts on the Dallas show Sunday evening at the "hanger." For the most part, the whole experience was absolutely amazing, beginning with the opportunity to be in the pit, and ending with the incredible show Bruce puts on. I have in the past only been able to take it all in from the nosebleed sections, therefore, I did not "feel" the power and raw energy that Bruce puts into his performance. If anyone out there has an opportunity to acquire the GA ticket, I highly recommend doing so because things are so much better watching with the royalty than being up with the common folk (no disrespect meant to anyone outside of the pit.) Thanks should be extended to Bill who ran the GA line, along with Todd who assumed control of #'s 199-300. The line was run to some sort of a successful degree. The few complaints I will voice is I think Bill made it too easy for all of the Dallasites to show up for the roll calls every two hours, then they were free to go back home until next roll call. If you are going to have a list, then it needs to be made hard enough that you fear you will lose your spot. Maybe there needs to be random roll calls after a certain time to ensure that a sense of urgency exists. I also did not like the fact that the GA line was allowed to begin sign ups as early as Friday afternoon, but I guess I can not have my cake and eat it too. If I lived closer than 2.5 hours away, I probably would have shown up Friday afternoon also. The final complaint I have is with the pit itself. The GA section was set up to deter the scalpers from profiting enormously on the front row seats. The GA section is for those die hard fans who will do whatever it takes to be near the stage. They are surrounded for the most part fans who know how to act. I worked my ass off to be #161 in line. I earned my position along with many others around me. The only people that should have access to the pit are those people that had the arm bands AND their number on their hands. Nobody else should be allowed in there. That's our little world, keep the hell out. I'm not sure where the cutoff number was, but if I had stood in line all day and only gotten an orange wristband, then I would be ready to thrash someone's ass that moseyed on in around 7:50 with a green arm band. I didn't get tanked up on alcohol and act like a freaking jerk by holding (spilling) my beer all over everyone around me and constantly yelling "Bruce" the whole show. I also didn't stand in line for 10 hours to listen to the "Cleveland Boys" talk all night. I don't give a rat's ass who you know, you didn't earn the privilege of being in the pit. If anyone knows who these three guys are, tell them to do EVERYBODY a favor next time Bruce comes to town: Stay home. We can manage without your talking and yelling "Cleveland Boys are back" every few minutes or so. It was really "cool" to hear it yelled for the umpteenth time during Incident on 57th Street. Learn how to handle your liquor intake. Other than those few isolated gripes, it was one of the best concert experiences I have had. Thanks should be extended to Greg, Staci, Rick, Leslie, and Greg for letting my wife and I share in the fun and festivities. If they couldn't sell out an arena in Cleveland (and can someone please explain THAT to me?) why would they move to larger venues? As for the northeast, they can just "camp out" at the Garden, or the Meadowlands, or Hartford Civic Center, etc. Maybe I'm alarmed without reason-- there haven't been any announcements for shows in the U.S. yet. Maybe they just want to play for as many people overseas as they can in as short a time as possible. As for that, can they sell out at these big places? What can you tell me European Fans, is it realistic to expect him to fill stadiums over there? I know he did years ago, but that was then.... (Bruce seemed not very comfortable with playing the > final part of the song, but of course he's not a piano virtuoso) ...which makes me wonder why he doesn't just have Roy play on these acoustic piano songs he's been doing. Bruce is no slouch at the piano by any means, but wouldn't the music be better served by Roy playing piano, and Bruce concentrating on giving his best vocals? They're being saved for 2003. The songs are simply too good not to be played on tour. So look for a few Rising Songs to be dropped to make room for Nothing Man, Let's be Friends, Further On, and Paradise. Anyone wonder why they don't release Waitin' on a Sunny Day as a single? The crowds just go crazy. Too bubble gum for bubble gum pop. Of all the sing-along songs Bruce has performed, Waitin' generates the most intense reaction. More than Hungry Heart, more than Thunder Road, more than Out in the Street. I always thought Out in the Street and Darlington Country should have been released as singles. Other songs from the Rising that I believe have "Hit" potential: You're Missing, Into the Fire, My City of Ruins, Mary's Place, Let's be Friends, and Further On. In fact, I believe all these songs have more hit potential than Lonesome Day. Just a layman's view point. I know it has been postponed until March 2nd due to the Big Man's surgery, but there are rumors on RMAS that it may be cancelled altogether due to poor ticket sales. It seems that only about 8,500 tickets have been sold at the Erwin Center, or "The Drum" in local parlance. This a facility that probably holds about 16,000 for concerts. As a former resident of Austin, "The Live Music Capital" of the World, I can't believe so few tickets have been sold. I saw Bruce there during the Reunion tour and the place was full. I live in Lubbock now, and there has been no promotion of "The Rising" here (I have yet to hear even one song from "The Rising" on the radio here and probably won't), maybe that's why Buddy Holly and Joe Ely had to leave this place to get some attention. On the other hand, I've always found Austin to be supportive of Bruce. One of the local stations, KGSR, used to play him often. I would assume they are playing "The Rising." Hopefully, the rescheduled date with meet with renewed enthusiasm, I know I'll try to be there. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 31 Oct 2002 14:33:36 -0500 From: "Dale Ahearn" Subject: Hail Tapers! I am inspired to say THANK YOU to all the anonymous members of the church who risk the wrath of our own Mr. T (Terry Magovern) and always come up with a FREE and cherished copy of those stellar services that might never be relived if we left it to Bruce. He may be the leader, but he aint the Pope and he aint infallible, as we know from his taping policy. I didn't and won't buy the Masters and disks of the stuff he threw in the trash or the vaults, but trading FREE public concerts is a different matter and on this he is WRONG to hassle our taping brothers. Put 'em out officially Bruce and I'll buy them, but while I'm waiting for hell to freeze I'll trade 'em. Thanks Tapers! Dale church of Bruce See who in Austin?
